Rogue x Hazel Litter - 2011

Puppies Available Occasionally

We are not "full time" breeders of Chesapeakes, meaning this is NOT how we make a living! Generally, the only time we have a litter is when we are ready to add a chessie pup (or two) to our own household! Because of that, when we decide to do a breeding, a tremendous amount of time and research is put into pairing two compatible dogs that will, hopefully, produce a litter of pups which will carry the traits and healthy genetics that we are looking for in our own pup(s).

We strive to produce Chesapeakes that have the natural drive, trainability and physical abilities to excel in field work, obedience, agility, tracking, service work, etc. As well as, pups that have the proper "good looks" and confirmation for the breed/show ring.

Temperament and health is of the utmost importance to us and is a major factor in our decisions for a proposed breeding. Both the sire and dam must have outstanding, calm, stable personalities and while it is impossibleto guarantee that a puppy will be completely free of genetic imperfections, we feel that by adhering to certain standards, we are reducing the risk of producing a pup with a debilitating genetic disease. Therefore, before being bred, all of our Chesapeakes have had their hips, elbows, and eyes OFA certified. We only breed dogs certified with an OFA rating of GOOD or EXCELLENT on their hips, NORMAL on their elbows and an OFA Eye Certification Registry (CAER) rating of NORMAL. They will also have had DNA testing done to ensure that they are unaffected by Degenerative Myelopathy (DM), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC), Ectodermal Dysplasia (ED), Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) and Progressive Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd). We require that the sires we use adhere to the same protocol.

When we do have a litter, all of our puppies are born and raised in the house with us. They are appropriately socialized, introduced to other dogs, cats, gunfire, birds and water (weather permitting). All pups will have rear dewclaws (if any) removed, dewclaws on the front legs will NOT be removed. All pups will be wormed and vaccinated according to their age and will come with a written health guarantee.
